Location Three: Discovery one of Austin last Art Deco inspired buildings

Brief

For over a decade, Austin has been my home, and Seaholm Power Plant has been a constant presence in my explorations. Constructed in the 1950s and named after the esteemed city manager Walter E. Seaholm, this iconic structure exudes the timeless allure of Art Deco architecture. Its distinct character adds a unique touch to any photograph captured in its vicinity. One of the most captivating features is the back side, where exposed piping and a minimalist aesthetic, accentuated by the building's striking white paint, create an unforgettable backdrop.

Directions

To discover the best shooting spots, head towards the back of the power plant. As you approach, you'll encounter a green patch of turf surrounded by various shops—a telltale sign that you're in the right place. Personally, I gravitate towards the area near the doors, drawn by the captivating leading lines formed by the structure itself.

Accessibility

Seaholm Power Plant is conveniently accessible, making it a photographer's dream location. Ample parking is available in front of the library, with free parking after 6 PM on weekdays. Simply cross the street and make your way to the main yard to capture stunning shots from the front. Don't forget to explore the side windows and the intriguing leading lines at the back for even more creative opportunities.
